GSR Meeting Report, November 14, 2009

Hello CMAer’s,
Thanks to all of you that attended our special outdoor GSR meeting. Here are the key points.

The annual CMA World Conference will be held in New York City from March 4th – 7th, 2010. Registration is $75.00 and there are hotel rooms available for $139.00 per night at The Gem Hotel (price good until Jan. 20th, 2010). Go to crystalmeth.org for more information.

CMA in LA has a cool interactive blog, "How We Do It." The monthly GSR report, events and great stories from our members are posted to keep us in the know. Go to the cmainla newsletter link at our web-site (cmainla.com) to access it or access it directly at:http://www.cmainla.blogspot.com/ Please write the editor (Mark O.) at editorcmainla@gmail.com to submit an entry, and don't hesitate to approach him with any ideas you have for an entry.

All committees are in need of volunteers. Volunteering is a great way to be of service and to give back to your community. If you are interested, go to cmainla.com and send a message to the chairman of the committee you would like to be a part of.

Roger D. - Information & outreach: Roger is looking for volunteers to help him distribute the helpline cards.

Bob P. - Helpline: The helpline is receiving around 3 calls a day. The time has come to expand. Coming soon we will be having a training class for the helpline.

Ari U. - Registration/Directory: The fall 2009 directory is here. It can be viewed and printed online at cmainla.com. There are physical copies for your meetings. They are available for twenty cents a copy at our monthly GSR meeting. If a meeting is low on funds, the district will cover the cost.

Dale G. - Events: A winter dance (possibly in Long Beach) and a bowling night are events to watch for in January. We will also have information within the next two months regarding L.A.’s first retreat set for sometime in 2010.

The resurrection dance and the skating night were highly successful and I would like to thank all those that volunteered and participated in these events.

Victor D. & Donald L. - H&I report: If you do not have an H&I Liaison, here is some useful information to assist you:

The primary purpose of the Hospitals & Institutions Committee is to carry the Crystal Meth Anonymous message of recovery to individuals who are confined, restricted, or otherwise unable to attend a 12-Step CMA meeting. Many times, an H&I panel meeting is the first introduction to Crystal Meth Anonymous that many inmates, clients, or patients receive. An H&I panel is a 12-Step recovery meeting that takes place inside recovery homes, sober living environments, jails, treatment centers, hospitals or any other institution or facility where access to CMA meetings, for those inside, is limited or restricted.
Please invite your fellows with 6 months or more of recovery to join us at our H&I meeting to sign up for upcoming panels. The next meeting is on Saturday December 12, 2009 1pm at the WEHO D&A Center 626 N. Robertson Blvd. Weho CA 90069.

Kurt T. - Chips/Literature: Always available are chips & literature at each GSR meeting. We will also have a pocket-sized edition of the big book the (around $1.25 per copy). If you need these items you can come to the meeting or alert your GSR’s.Joey C. - the newcomer packets: There are newcomer packets available at our monthly GSR meeting.
